People tend to celebrate when Libertarians drift over to becoming more dissident. When they engage in serious discussions around race and crime stats, when they start to take a more skeptical approach towards non governmental power structures. The trouble is though that libertarians bring a lot of excessive baggage with them about individualism.
Pete Quinones is one such chap who fits the above bill, in truth I’ve heard a few of his podcasts and enjoyed them but to my disgust and revulsion I noticed on Twitter he had invited a British troon onto his show and was proudly promoting it.
If you had told me 5 years ago that the fellow traveler of the right would be openly welcoming subversive transexuals onto their podcasts to discuss Carl Schmidt I would not have believed you but here we are. Upon calling Pete out on this he displayed another annoying habit ex-libertarians have which is dishonesty.
Pete’s cope response was to claim I and others calling him out were following homosexuals on Twitter as if this was in any serious way an equivalence to him inviting on and validating a troon’s delusional fantasy and subverting societal norms by hosting them on a podcast. The spurious claim is just absurd here - that to follow is to endorse? Does following CNN make me a journalist respecter? Does following Blackrock make me approving of their financial decisions? Beyond nonsense claims here.
Pete dug down into this dishonest diversion tactic demanding us to denounce who we were following - all the while ducking his own actual subversive behavior. The bad faith on display was remarkable to behold, it was as astounding to me as the white knights who appeared to defend the troon. Before going further let us stop and highlight the danger and subversion going on here. I frankly can’t say it better than a Twitter user who came to support my perspective:
"The mere existence of MtFs in a space is a force for confusion/shit-testing over pronouns. They're the most corrupted form of modern personhood conceivable and replicate their entropic form in everything they do."
You don’t get to mock the ‘conservative’ movement with their MAGA Drag Queens if you are hosting and inviting a homosexual man pretending to be a woman.
You don’t get to talk about family values if you are hosting and inviting a homosexual man pretending to be a woman.
You are not on the side of the good, the sane and the just if you are doing this. People can make platitudes all they want about ‘Friend Enemy Distinction’ but the old idea about the way to tell if someone is on your side by asking if a woman can have a penis is still true.
Most normal people experience a disgust reaction when encountered with a troon. Those who don’t are usually signifying their higher degree of openness (associated with liberalism) and in this way by engaging with figures such as this they are telling us something.
One of the cope retorts attempted that Pete made was this appeal to ‘live and let live’.
“I don’t care you follow a homosexual”*
Well that’s exactly the point Pete. Maybe you should.
Libertarians have often made such arguments - they just want to be left alone. The whole point is you won’t be left alone. The whole point is that you SHOULD care about how your wider community behaves and who it engages with.
This is why I’m writing this post. A small objection to the insanity I’m seeing from people who would have me believe they are my allies.
I seriously thought that the line in the sand for most sane people would be troons. Yet here we are with more and more ‘personalities’ who do command influence and reach inviting these subversive types onto livestreams and validating their mental illness/perversion.
Libertarians should be treated with caution in light of events like this, they cling to an individualistic set of ideals that are not actually compatible with a healthy society. As evidenced in the response from Pete they are also often deeply dishonest and then engage with bad faith.
Subversion comes in many forms.
