The Conspiracy Trap

Myopia of belief leads to new propositional identity

Let’s get this out the way: some conspiracies are real. Top down control and planning exists. There is co-ordinating behind the scenes that occurs - our elites organize together and have success in that.

However.

A great number of people are sinking into a trap of laziness and myopia. For these people are absorbing their theories as propositional identities. Everything can be explained by conspiracy or WEF tinkering. No other explanation becomes permissible because it challenges the propositional identity they have adopted.

Belief evolves into identity over time, someone might start out as free thinking and open but the more they tie their own personal identity to what they discover the more it meshes in and becomes a proposition. I encountered this in a Telegram comments section from one such person, who is a respected figure for the most part. In spite of this man clearly being intelligent and offering good insights it’s clear from interaction he has evolved into a true believer. This true believer struggled to entertain the notion that we may be seeing more and more signs of a slow collapse.

He ridiculed the thinkers that talk about this because it did not fit with his myopic view that everything bad was tied to a globalist WEF plot. It is very hard to break through to these people because they default back to the same explanation for everything.

It isn’t decaying rail infrastructure - it’s a deliberate plan.

It isn’t a stupider population causing industrial accidents - it’s a deliberate plan.

It couldn’t be a foreign power tinkering - it’s a deliberate plan.

Some of the more advanced believers will even make crazier jumps to go “Yes of course this collapse in standards and systems by hiring morons IS THE PLAN”. Maybe, sure, I’ll entertain that to an extent but the elites do still live in this world and have to rely on air traffic controllers the same as us peons on the commercial flights.

I used to think this myopia and pigheadedness was mostly harmless. An irritant to be sure because these people can’t entertain other ideas but consigned to a relatively small group of people. Yet more and more I see their influence rising and out of this thinking you end up in weird places.

Qanon.

This too was a propositional identity that beguiled and tricked hundreds of thousands. Mostly boomers, but a fair few GenXers and millennials were swept up as well. Someone I know told me once it was a good thing ultimately because these people were at least now researching things like Epstein and company. Perhaps so but where did that trail lead? No doubt many former Qanon adherents are now shuffling cards for their next belief system, or defaulting back to their old one.

Being open to conspiracy and the top down planning is worthwhile, I have certain knowledge about just how far the tendrils of the climate change control system will extend having witnessed it first hand, those people too are creating a propositional identity. It is a powerful force. It blinds their adherents from listening to any opposition because they don’t just think that way - their entire identity is tied up in it.

People fighting our good fight should be careful about this trap - reality ultimately doesn’t care. A failure to be able to engage in alternative outcomes and be ready for them makes you less resilient in the long run, and it makes you less likely to offer the correct solutions.
