Environmentalism should be a right-wing concern.
My own latent right-wing beliefs and orientation first showed itself at a young age when I was upset that the native Red Squirrels of the United Kingdom were being displaced by the ugly larger American Grey Squirrels. Protecting our native fauna and flora is deeply nationalist position, even a localist position. Texas for example allows hunters to kill any non-native species - if you have an imported kudu escape one of the private hunting ranches then it is your duty as a Texan hunter to take it out. A true right-wing environmental policy might even prevent the importation of such animals for sport hunting.
Flora and fauna aside we do face other environmental challenges that have been swept up into how the left have manipulated the debate: Climate Change. There is a certain toxicity to this - we are asked to believe people who hate us and TRUST THE SCIENCE to buy the line that certain activities are contributing to changing climate. Carbon has conveniently appeared as the bogeyman - this of course allows a clampdown of control - less cows is at the tip of the spear. They want us eating bugs not for the climate but for the humiliation and control it brings. Climate change aside there are looming power issues somewhere out in the ether and either way you cut it we have arrived at the latest mainstream rights favorite environmental talking point.
Nuclear Energy.
Nuclear energy is the latest copium of the right-wing political class who tout it as a miracle solution to all problems. This is disappointing in that they are all too often buying the twisted frame of the left but also because it is just mind-numbingly a stupid copium to arrive at in the state of decay we face.
Complex societies are either expanding or collapsing, we are clearly into the collapse phase. This is a controversial opinion, and I have seen otherwise seemingly intelligent individuals swear that this isn’t happening. The disappointment I have in those people aside I fear for their delusions. These people buy too deeply into the imagined nightmare scenario of the elites who grasp at straws, who hope for brain uploads. These people, both those on my side of the divide, and the elite leftists seem to always ignore things like the failing rail infrastructure of the US or how much more dumb technological dependence has made people as things fail.
Nuclear power is a complex technology to manage and run. It is always state managed and run because of this (and the weapon implications) - so what happens as our institutions bloat and decay? What happens if you want to dream of many new ‘clean’ nuclear power plants but your ruling class and governmental hiring process places and emphasis on diversity over competence?
It won’t end well.
Actually it is unlikely to even get off the ground. The bloat of government and safety regulations won’t be stripped away. Cutting the red tape is great on the campaign trail as a slogan but difficult to do and guess what when you do see ‘innovation’ today is is also largely tied up in bullshit ideas. Oceangate and their Titan sub were ‘innovators’ who used new technology. When that went wrong 5 people got splatted deep beneath the sea, if it goes wrong with nuclear energy and power the consequences could be much more impactful. There isn’t a way to innovate around the reality of this, some sensible voices are likely to win out and if not them then sheer inertia is going to stop these nuclear power dreams. We’re not even going to deal with the public opinion which would likely be easily galvanized into opposing this.
At the heart of this issue is the ouroboros of Liberalism. Eating its own tail. We can’t even try this idea because of the dangers. Liberalism is a vehicle for collapse of complex societies outside of the traditional idea of complexity. Think of what happens when liberalism arrives full of porn and tranny energy to more underdeveloped areas. Starlink spreads liberalism in the same way our bodies hosted actual diseases as we came across the world. Africans survived more than Native Americans because Europeans struggled to survive against the native diseases and what we brought didn’t bother the Africans all that much. Liberalism piped down satellite internet is something that sickle cell anemia can’t help them against though.
As Liberalism guts and collapses the West into stagnation and declining standards as equity triumphs it to collapses more ‘backward’ vulnerable cultures outside of the sphere who remain around today. That is a tragedy. Even in the death throes it will harm us and them.
Nuclear power isn’t going to be a magic solution to energy problems that loom. A society in our state of decay where a nuclear energy state department employee (Sam Brinton) is a man who dresses as a woman and steals luggage from airports is simply incapable of engineering their way out of this crisis - as temporary as that fix might have been. Brinton is the perfect example of why our society is collapsing. Any system that elevates such an individual into the position he held “deputy assistant secretary of Spent Fuel and Waste Disposition in the Office of Nuclear Energy” is incapable of surviving for long.
Make plans accordingly.
To imagine nuclear being the solution, you'd have to imagine that countries like China and Russia, who have much less safety culture, are leaving billions in savings on the table just for no reason. The bottom line is it is more expensive.
