Becoming Post Political
Foundations
Recent events have accelerated my thoughts on this as did Imperium Press’s recent substack article on the need to oppose liberalism for defense of the whole world. I’ll touch more on Mike’s arguments and how they relate a bit later on but first it feels necessary to make a few things clear about what this notion of post political is and is not.
Firstly it is NOT an exhortation to others to abandon their own political pursuits of power. If people feel that their interests are served in pursuing political power via the ballot box then that is valuable time for them. I would certainly support political parties that look to improve our collective position on paper, even if I don’t think we are voting out way out of this.
Being post political IS about seeking a deeper understanding of the crisis’s that loom on the horizon and exploring them and sharing thoughts.
It is NOT akin to the weird ‘passivism’ that NRx types once propose. Being post political does not prevent one from taking action, if anything it focuses on taking the right kind of action and thinking generationally, something that the ‘Right’ for all its claims does not seem to actually do much of at all.
With some clarity in the air I’ll dive deeper into the thinking I am attempting to espouse.
Do you, reader, actually believe that things are cyclical? Do you fully absorb and understand the cycles of good times breeding weak men, leading to hard times that create strong men who then create those good times?
Do you believe that human nature is what it is and that the tabula rasa exceptionalism of the liberal hegemony is a mere blip?
Do you believe that the strong eventually always triumph over the weak?
I would consider anyone who answers Yes to the above to be at heart someone on my side, a fellow traveler. We may disagree with nuances or strategy or faith but the broad strokes above would indicate more in common than not.
If one does hold those things to be true then there is also likely a begrudging acceptance of the situation we are in, that it too will pass, that it is our job to weather the storm. It does not ask us to be passive or the place faith in things just working out BUT in some part there is acknowledgment that this state of human exception will pass.
What though gives rise to this incredibly abnormal time?
Perhaps it is energy.
Technology is often seen for what it is - the clever liberal will acknowledge that the washing machine liberated women more than the writings of Pankhurst but behind that washing machine is energy.
After all it is the cheap and abundant energy that powers washing machines. Of course it is not just washing machines, everything about the society we live in today is completely contingent on cheap and readily available energy. That energy is from ancient fuels that have been tapped and used freely, as more and more cheap energy becomes available to a society the more liberalism can spread.
It is not just liberalism that is the danger though, this use of cheap energy disconnects societies from their roots, makes faith weaker, it allows the easy but temporary conquering of death. Cheap energy provides security and safety in ways that more people are becoming increasingly aware of and horrified of. The automation dreams of the technocratic elites are contingent on cheap energy. As are their enslavement goals that center around massive grain harvesting operations and pushing vegan corn crops.
Here is the good news; in the long run it’s never going to work.
Peak Oil as a theory is somewhat forgotten - advances in technology have pushed the timelines out enough that people have forgotten but it doesn’t change the reality of finite resources, nor does that theory even begin to address the rot that is present in our societies. Nuclear solutions don’t get you much further either once you dig down into it. All of a sudden you realize almost everything is a scam driven by hopium and copium. Electric cars and the push for electric vehicles are at the forefront of this - completely unworkable at scale and there exist serious limits with the resources used for them in much the same way they exist for oil. Put another way: once you see through the lies that you have been told about noticing FBI stats it becomes harder to ignore the lies told to you about electric cars and going to Mars...
These truths all speak to the fact for all their desires the Great Reset is going to fail, there will be a greater reset at some point in the future. We are already pushing up against the limits hard and burning energy ever faster. The games that will be played matter in so much as it is your responsibility to your blood line to ensure you survive. Mike’s article about how the rest of the world has no defense to Liberalism is true but they had no defense to Borlaug either who completely annihilated the paradigm of their existence. This change of course was still driven by energy and the third world did experience a rocketing growth as food became more available.
Heck could one even be crazy enough to see Liberalism (and it’s population reducing influences) as some kind of natural fight back?
Crazy talk aside this is about becoming post political - it’s to focus on the long term survival of your bloodline and the skills and knowledge you consider important.
We’re in the twilight of our comfort centric wasteful civilization and at a certain point that reframes your interest and approaches. Of course I care about the world of my children but what of their children, or their children. In that sense we have to accept that more of modernity than most are comfortable admitting is in fact harmful and simply unsustainable. This is why those on the Right have always in some way been part of the ecological movement. Of understanding the need to preserve and persevere.
I’ll continue my thoughts in subsequent posts.
Good point- at some point restructuring will have to take place and that's when the real issues start
